More for your Listening Pleasure

This is a very poorly shot video of my daughter Kate (in the middle, singing soprano/lead) and two of her friends performing at my in-laws’ 60th wedding anniversary party.  They are singing the song, “The Shape I Found You In,” written in 2002 by a group called Girlyman.  The a capella arrangement was written by the very talented young lady singing alto, Beth, on the right-hand side of the trio.  The performance took place on November 21.  In the background you can see a slide show made up of photos from the 65 years my in-laws have been an item; my 10-year-old niece Kristen put that together.

“Shape” is actually a very sad love song the way GM performs it, but Kate and her pals picked up the tempo and made it a bit more cheerful.  My in-laws loved it; my mother-in-law (who you can see briefly at the end of the song) is still talking about this performance.

Enjoy.

Proud Mom Moment

My younger daughter, Kate, has turned into a terrific singer.  I’m not the only one who thinks this, honest!

Here she is belting out Jefferson Airplane’s “Somebody to Love” at her high school’s talent show on Thursday night (4/26/07).  Enjoy!

There are even more videos of various performances of hers over the last 5 or 6 years on my YouTube page:  http://www.youtube.com/twcarey.

GM Edits Their Stupid Ad

So there I was, watching the Oscars and speeding through the ads with the help of my TiVo remote, when I realized that the GM ad with the suicidal robot was on.

A rare move for me: hitting the reverse button to watch an ad.  This time, I’m glad I did.  GM took the suicidal moment out of the robot’s dream sequence (click here to see my earlier rant on the subject) and I didn’t think it hurt the ad that much.

I was pleased to see that GM responded to the critics of the original ad, including The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP); the Foundation and GM reached an agreement on February 9

Sometimes being the squeaky wheel is a Good Thing.
